Just had a brand new Romba 560 from Robotshop. Did not work at all even for a second. Contacted to iRobot for service. The replacement failed to deliver 3 times. Then contacted RobotShop and asked for return. However, the Robotshop takes no any responsibility for their error or mistake. They set new policy against what they printed on back of invoice. asking the customer pay everything for their errors.

i have many health problems that don't allow me to help w/ housecleaning. i live with 2 men who can't see dirt. get the picture?
my husband bought this for my birthday a few years back. it was a goddessend. as a kid, i'd always dreamed of a robotic maid to do my chores for me. is it perfect? no. do i care? hell no! i'm ready 4 the newer version. ours finally broke.
no point re-hashing details. there are plenty of reviews already. hopefully one day they'll make one w/ hepa filter, uv sanitizer, etc...and if it cleans the stairs i'll pay double. |

| This is my second iRobot Roomba 4210 (the 1st was damaged in a broken water heater flood) My first was purchased in a promotional sale in 2004 and was still in perfect operating condition in early 2010. Number 1 Robot was one of my most valued possessions,-- as is Number 2! |
Great product, terrible batteries

The roomba is a great product that saves a lot of time. HOWEVER, the batteries are TERRIBLE, and always die in less than one year (I've gone through over 6 batteries for the roombas I've owned). Regardless of wether you follow all the instructions and tips to prolong battery life, they WILL stop working. If you're considering buying this product, make sure to include at least $50 per year in battery costs.
Also, according to a service rep at Irobot I just spoke with, Irobot only honors warranties from products purchased at the Irobot store or Amazon, so don't buy it anywhere else... |
At Long Last, Where to Get Your Little Guy Repaired
|

I have had Roomba Discovery robots since 2006, and yes, they do break down. But I'm here to tell people that I finally found a reputable online company that repairs them. It's called [...] and they've repaired several of my little guys so that they run just like new. They also separate their repair estimate into what is needed and what is recommended, so that you can choose. I highly recommend this great company.
As for the Roomba Discovery series, obviously I love them, which is why I got mine repaired. I love the efficiency of not having to screw around with getting the huge upright out and especially lugging it to the second floor of our California condo. I love the remote to turn it on. I love the fact that 95% of the time it docks itself at its' charging station to renew its' battery. I love the fact that it takes me just 3 minutes to clean it after each cycle. And I especially love the fact that I can do other things while the little guys vacuum.
I was born in 1956, so I have long understood that things require maintenance. I am continually amazed at people who expect to buy something---whether it be a power saw or a Roomba---and expect it to work beautifully forever while doing little or no maintenance. You will have to clean its' brushes after every cleaning cycle. You will have to replace the battery eventually. I blow mine out with a leaf blower after every cycle. Yes, these Roomba Discoveries could certainly be built to last longer, and who knows, maybe the more recent models do. But now that I've found a reputable and reasonable place to get them repaired, I'm perfectly content with mine. |
